Ingredients

  • Ingredients Needed
  • One pound ground beef 80/20 or substitute with ground turkey
  • One and a half to two onions's
  • One green bell pepper diced
  • One can diced fire roasted tomatoes
  • Two 8 ounce cans of tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder I used 1 tablespoon Mexican chili powder and 1 tablespoon favorite brand of chili seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Half a teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 15 ounce can red kidney beans
  • 1 cup water
  • Chili topping
  • A dollop or a teaspoon sour cream
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Green onions

Instructions

  • Preparation
  • Start by adding a teaspoon of olive oil or nonstick cooking spray too deep skillet. Adding onions and ground meat cooked meat until brown and cooked all the way through.
  • Once cooked strain excess water, If any. Return skillet to stovetop.
  • Adding green bell peppers, stir to combine ingredients. Adding dry seasonings, smoked paprika, chili powder and ground cumin, and salt stir to combine.
  • Add fire roasted tomatoes, tomato sauce, beans, and water. Stir, cover with lid and simmer on low to low medium heat for 1 hour to 1 hour and fifteen minutes or until chili thickens.
  • (Optional)
  • Top with sour cream, cheddar cheese and green onions
