Spicy Orange Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 12-20 wings
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder to taste
  • Spicy Orange Sauce
  • 2 large oranges squeezed can substitute with 1 cup orange juice
  • 4 tbsps honey
  • 3 tbsps soy sauce low sodiun
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp grated ginger can substitute with 1/2 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp cayenne pepper adjust heat level according to taste
  • 3 tbsps orange preserve
  • 1 tsp cornstarch to thicken sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400F. Place a cooling rack unto a baking sheet and spray with non-stick cooking spray. This will prevent the chicken from sticking to the grill (cooling rack).
  • Using a mixing bowl add cleaned chicken pieces and season with oil, salt, black pepper, onion, and garlic powder.
  • Place chicken wings unto prepared baking rack and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  • Spicy Orange Sauce Instructions
  • Squeeze oranges and combine with soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, ginger, orange preserve, cayenne, and cornstarch. Combine until smooth.
  • Add mixture to a saucepan and allow the sauce to reduce and thicken, before adding chicken to the sauce.
  • Coat the chicken with the spicy orange sauce and serve.
  • Enjoy!!!

Notes

Chicken Wing Cooking Options:
Fry Wings: Season as mentioned above and fry in hot oil. Drain and add to the sauce.
No Cooling Rack Option:
If you don't have a baking or cooling rack. You can line a baking sheet with aluminum foil sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Add the chicken wings and place it into the oven. Flip the wings on the other side after 30 minutes or when the wings become brown.
