Southern Style BBQ Baked Beans

This Southern Style BBQ Baked Beans recipe is packed with tons of flavors, smokey, spicy and sweet all in one bite. Adding smoked sausages, bbq sauce, cayenne pepper, brown sugar and a hint of ground ginger just to name a few ingredients can turn up the flavor of any can of regular baked beans.

Ingredients

  • 28 ounces baked beans I used Bush's
  • kielbasa smoked sausage any preferred variety of sausage goes great
  • 1/4 red bell pepper
  • 1/4 green bell pepper
  • 1 small yellow onion
  • 1 cup bbq sauce preferred brand
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tbsp mustard yellow, spicy or dijon
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika smoke, sweet or regular
  • 2 tbsp olive oil to coat pot or pan
  • butter to grease baking dish

Instructions

  • Preating oven to 350°F
  • Using a pot or large sauce pan adding olive oil, onions and sausages, combining and browning.
  • Adding baked beans, bell peppers, barbecue sauce, ketchup, molasses, mustard, soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, ground ginger, and combining all ingredients.
  • Simmering on stovetop for 5 minutes. Using butter or nonstick cooking spray grease baking dish. Adding baked beans and sausage mixture, and covering with aluminum foil and baking for about 45 minutes
  • After 45 minutes removing aluminum foil and baking uncovered for 15 minutes, before removing and serving.Enjoy!!!
